The public’s help with info requested

Hart County, Georgia  Sheriff Mike Cleveland is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect in the double homicide that happened Monday.

“We still need information from the public,” Cleveland said Tuesday morning. “Somebody knows something.”

According to Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland, it happened on Redwine Church Road early Monday afternoon.

“At about 1:10 Monday, the Sheriff’s office received a report of a shooting on Redwine Church Rd in Hart County,” he said in a press release issued Monday night. “Upon arrival, it was determined that a double homicide had occurred. The Georgia Bureau of Investigations and Georgia State Patrol are assisting the Hart County Sheriff’s Office in this investigation.”

According to initial reports, one person died at the scene, the second victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where she died.

The victims are identified as Jerece Teasley, 26, and Alexius Spencer, 25.

“Now we have two little kids without a mama,” the Sheriff said.

Cleveland said at first they thought it was a domestic issue but he said Tuesday, investigators are looking at all avenues.

“That was our first reaction because there had been some trouble with one of them before,” he said. But right now we’re keeping an open mind because we don’t really absolutely know. So, we’re keeping all avenues open.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hart County Sheriff’s office at 706-376-3114, or the GBI Athens office at (706) 552-2309.
