The mayor sounds off on parking changes

Metered parking is apt to soon be a reality in downtown Clemson.  Mayor Robert Halfacre indicates merchants will welcome it, as free parking is being abused by those who park for hours, some of whom are university people who find downtown parking closer to campus than some of the university commuter lots.  In a statement to 94.1/The Lake, Halfacre said, “….a large percentage of the prime on street parking spaces are occupied by people not patronizing any of the establishments in the downtown district.  Our focus is parking spots that create an environment for individuals/families to patronize and support our local businesses.”
