The Joint Regional Sewer Authority is an award winner

Oconee’s Joint Regional Sewer Authority has picked up a pair of statewide honors — one which carries some irony.  Chris Eleazer, executive director, detailed the awards during the JRSA board meeting for April.  The first that he mentioned came from the Water Environmental Association of South Carolina, presented at Myrtle Beach.  It’s a big deal, Eleazer explained, because of safety measures at the county treatment plant.  The second award came from South Carolina DHEC.  In recent years, because of sewer overflows, the JRSA and the state agency have entered a consent order.  In this instance, however, DHEC recognized the Oconee plant with an award of excellence, reflecting no overflows in the year 2021.
