The defense offered no witnesses

By late morning all testimony had been completed in SC vs. Duncan.  The five witnesses, including Officer Hellams of the Oconee Sheriff’s Office, all testified for the prosecution.  The defense lawyer was alone as defendant Steven Lee Duncan, for a second day, was not present.  However, trial proceeded in his absence.  The state went to trial against Duncan on the charges of failing to stop and trafficking in meth.  At the 1 o’clock resumption, after lunch, all that’s left were the closing arguments by the attorneys, the judge’s explanation of the law to the jury.  At that point, 12-member jury retires to their 4th floor courthouse room to deliberate.
