The current plight of the wild turkey populations

Turkey hunters, landowners, even state lawmakers.  They’ve been complaining to the South Carolina DNR about declining populations of wild turkeys.  It’s a problem seen across the Southeast and the Midwest.  And brood surveys and harvest data support this.  DNR this month is holding public meetings across the state to discuss the concerns and the options.  The nearest meeting to WGOG land will be later this month in Greenville: 6:30 to 8:30 the night of Thursday, July 27 in the University Transfer Auditorium at the Greenville Technical College.
