The 123 Seneca River bridge was inspected in 2020

The integrity of a large bridge connecting Oconee County with Clemson may have been behind a question recently posed to Clemson city officials.  At a “Conversations with Council” get together, the question of when the highway 123 bridge over Lake Hartwell was last inspected, elicited the following reply:  “South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) is required to complete the biannual inspections of the bridge in question.  As the bridge is owned/operated by SCDOT these records are not provided to the City unless requested or reviewed in the National Bridge Inventory (NBI).  Bridges are inspected to SCDOT and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) standards.  The last inspection took place in 2020.  The next inspection will take place this year.”
