Tax formula settled

The formula that Oconee follows to set this year’s property tax bills is decided – the result of a unanimous county council vote last night.  This, following a presentation by the county auditor.  Christy Hubbard says she took into consideration the monies approved for the current county budgets and the latest assessed property values.  Those values reflect an expanding tax base, in particular, as Hubbard explained, more and more people moving into the county.  And it’s going to result, she said, in an overall drop of three tax mills to figure the 2023 property tax bills that go into the mail this fall.
