Striving to be South Carolina’s safest city

Second-year Walhalla chief of police, Tim Rice, announced last night his goal is to achieve a rating of South Carolina’s safest city from crime.  In the latest rating by a group called Safewise, Walhalla moved up to third safest, even though the city saw a rare homicide last year.  Prior to 2022, Walhalla was the 9th safest South Carolina city.  It’s now the third and, according to Rice, only the second Upstate municipality to receive a top ten rating.
