Steep bond remains in place for stabbing attack defendant

A young woman in jail attire appeared before the Oconee General Sessions judge yesterday, in a bid to lower the bond on charges of attempted murder and the possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Wanda Maria Harvey’s bid was dashed when Judge Sprouse, after reviewing the allegations in a stabbing incident, said the case gives him “great concerns” and he kept in place a $100 thousand bond on the charge of attempted murder and $20 thousand on the charge of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.  The stabbing incident on an Oconee County highway took place in 2022.  Members of the victim’s family, for reasons of the victim’s safety, pleaded with the judge to keep the bond high enough so that the defendant cannot gain freedom prior to trial.
