Statement from Greenville Sheriff’s Office

“Investigators from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an officer involved shooting which occurred on Thursday, November 16, 2023, in Oconee County.

 

A deputy with the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop at around 12:00 p.m., on Highway 11 in Oconee County. After the driver initially pulled over, he drove away and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit the driver’s vehicle came to another stop on Black Bass Road near Shelor Ferry Road at which time a deputy was shot. The suspect then drove off again before his vehicle came to another stop where the driver exited the vehicle near Black Bass Road and Catfish Hill Road. At that location the suspect was shot by law enforcement. The suspect, who has not yet been identified, was taken into custody and transported to the hospital. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office deputy was also transported to the hospital. The GCSO was requested to investigate by SLED.

 

This is an ongoing investigation, and with that no other information about the case will be disclosed at this time.
