Special court proceeding winds down

Indications are an Oconee jury will deliberate the case today of a Westminster area couple who are appealing as too low a condemnation award for surrendering part of their land to allow for the crossing of an electric power transmission line.  Late yesterday afternoon it appeared the only testimony remaining was that from an appraiser and one of the homeowners.  “So many numbers flying around” was a comment made by the judge as he spoke to the parties while the jury had been sent back to their meeting room.  And those numbers that Judge Sprouse referred to are the numbers given by both sides as to what should be just compensation for the couple, Debbie and Donald Slisher.  It was apparent yesterday that both sides are greatly divided over what that dollar figure should be.  So it shapes up as a question for the panel of 12 Oconee jurors.
