South Carolinians eager to vote early

By late yesterday afternoon, about 40 thousand South Carolinians had voted early.  That turnout, says the state election office, nearly doubled the previous one-day record for early voting set June 10–the last day of early voting in the statewide primaries.  Of the 40 thousand count, 697 had cast ballots in Oconee County, according to Kristi Burr, county elections director.  The state election commission reminds any voter who hasn’t yet voted they can visit an early center in their county during the early voting period and vote in person as they would at their polling place on Election Day.
