South Carolina becoming a “battery belt”

Seneca’s Bill Sandifer, chairman of the state’s Labor, Commerce, and Industry Committee, hails the announcements this month that electric vehicle and battery manufacturers are setting up in South Carolina.  Redwood Materials is committing $3.5 billion in the Low Country; Envision AESC, a Japanese electric vehicle battery technology company, announced a battery cell giga-factory in Florence County, to create more than 1,100 jobs. Rep. Sandifer said, “I believe the whole state will benefit from automotive industry growth, including Oconee County.”
