Sorority sisters address Oconee County Council

Members of the Anderson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority thanked the Oconee County Council this week for its service and requested the five councilmen make priorities of what the sorority deems important issues–voting rights, education, healthcare, domestic violence, and racial profiling by law enforcement.  Delta Sigma Theta Sorority is a sisterhood of pre-dominantly African American, college-educated women. The Anderson chapter, organized in 1978, serves Oconee, Anderson and Pickens counties.  County Council received the remarks of Alesia Smith, a member of Clemson City Council, as information, with no action taken.
