Solution recommended to a Walhalla sewer problem

Walhalla’s utilities committee threw its support behind a preferred solution this morning to a new homeowner’s problem of sewer overflow and backup on S. Pine Street.   The committee agreed with utilities director Scott Parris’s idea to fix.  The committee will recommend at tomorrow night’s full city council meeting that for reasons, including cost, the preferred solution there would be a state DHEC permit for a septic tank.  By ordinance, a hookup to city sewer if available. In this instance, however, there are questions as to what’s reasonable, according to the discussion led by Parris with committee chairman Grant Keehn and councilmen Keith Pace and Kenny Johns.
