Social worker joins the employ of Oconee Library

Libraries are the traditional place to go for enlightenment.  Soon in Oconee County you can go to the library and confer with a licensed social worker.  Here’s what Blair Hinson, the county library director, says about the addition of Kerry Leeper Brock in the new role of Community Resource Associate:  “(she is a licensed professional social worker), offering direct assistance to people in the community with everything from access to primary health care to housing and food insecurity issues to job-seeking assistance and more. She will also be meeting with and establishing partnerships for the library with a vast array of social services agencies to get the word out about what they do through the library’s website and social media.”  Brock’s position is funded through a grant from the Center for Rural and Primary Healthcare’s Libraries and Health Innovations grant program partnering with South Carolina DHEC.  Brock will base her services from the county library’s Walhalla headquarters but will visit all county libraries on a regular schedule.
