Sewer South 2 one-third complete

The project to lay sewer pipe to I-85 in Oconee is estimated to be 33% complete, according to Chris Eleazer.  The head of the Joint Regional Sewer Authority says most of the force main pipe on the south side of the interstate between exits 1 and 2 has been installed with 10″ pipe bored below the surface of Lake Hartwell to be finished shortly.  The 12″ force main pipe from near exit 2 to the vicinity of Yoder’s is in and most of the 15″ gravity line has been laid under I-85 near exit 2 and Broadway Lane.  It was a year ago that the engineering company Davis and Floyd was awarded a contract of $474,500 for bidding, construction, and inspection services.  Eleazer says Sewer South Phase Two remains on schedule to be finished in late spring or early summer 2024.  But that timeline could change depending on the availability of pumps, electric equipment, and other materials.
