Sewer authority differences hashed out in private

Mediation was conducted on Friday in the dispute that divides Seneca from its fellow municipal members in the Joint Regional Sewer Authority.  But what happened during the mediation is not to  be publicly discussed.  Mediation is a process in which the participants are to keep under wraps what was said, to avoid airing dirty laundry.  In this case, Walhalla Mayor Danny Edwards said afterward on Friday, “The mediator asked us not to comment on what happened today. I wish I could.”  Mediation was agreed to as a way to resolve—and avoid—Seneca’s threat to sue for increased membership on the JRSA board of commissioners, the clout in which rests with its smaller neighbors, Walhalla and Westminster.
