Settlement agreed to in Oconee civil case

Oconee County Council agreed this week to settle a civil lawsuit for $10 thousand.  After a brief statement by David Root, the county attorney, the council Tuesday night approved the settlement, after leaving an executive session and re-convening its open meeting.  The case involved Sandra King, plaintiff, vs. Stacey Fischer and Oconee County.  In 2021 an Anderson attorney, representing a former assistant principal, named as defendants Oconee and an employee.  The lawsuit, filed in 2021 in the Oconee Common Pleas Court, contained allegations of breach of confidentiality and invasion of privacy.  In the complaint, the plaintiff’s side sought damages in excess of $100 thousand.
