Seneca’s stock of electric transformers

Seneca’s utilities director couched his language when replying to a councilman’s question about the size of the city’s reserve electric transformers — which would be tapped if there were ever a disaster, such as the 2020 EF3 tornado that hit Seneca.  Bob Faires, utilities director, says the problem of adequate reserves of transformers is not just a Seneca problem, it’s a problem for the entire industry of electric power retailers.  Faires responded to a question from Councilman Ernest Riley.  The issue arose while Faires requested – and the council approved – a new policy that charges a fee to developers who apply for new electric power service.  The policy, he said, mirrors the one followed by the Easley Commission of Public Works.
