Seneca social will attract out of state visitors

This is the annual weekend for many to remember the days of segregated education in Oconee County.  Starting Friday, it will be reunion time for those who were educated at the Oconee County Training School, Seneca’s Blue Ridge High School, and other schools that served blacks during segregation.  Walhalla’s Martha Wright has a hand in organizing this year’s three-day event, which starts with a meet-and-greet at the Blue Ridge Community Center.  Saturday night is reserved for a dinner at the Madren Center, featuring a musical band.  Over 101.7/WGOG airwaves, Wright recalls some of the history of segregated education in Oconee County, which ended with the 1968-69 school year.
