Seafood spread and conservative government style

A crowd of an anticipated 110 Oconee Republicans made their way to the Lighthouse Event Center on Lake Keowee.  The April meeting of Oconee County Republican Men featured a salmon main course and a speaker’s dais of five members of the one-year-old South Carolina Freedom Caucus.  It’s a group of conservative state representatives who are out to shake up the status quo when it comes to spending and socially conservative proposals.  Jose Carerra of the Oconee Republican Men says his group takes an open-minded position about the Freedom Caucus and strives for an all-inclusive approach when it comes to Republican politics.  Pre-meeting, 101.7/WGOG NEWS spoke with caucus member Rob Harris, a first-term House member representing Spartanburg District 36.  An operating room nurse by profession, Harris told us his group has made strides in the last year — including a role in MUSC’s cancellation of a transgender clinic directed at kids as young as four years old, along with obtaining an undercover recording of CRT — Critical Race teachings — made in South Carolina.
