Scott co-sponsor of an offshore wind project bill

South Carolina’s junior U-S senator, Tim Scott of Charleston, is a co-sponsor of a bill to direct money generated by offshore wind projects to the states nearest the projects.  The bill is called Reinvesting in Shoreline Economics and Ecosystems.  Current law requires that all revenues from offshore wind leases and production beyond six nautical miles from states be sent to the U-S Treasury.  But the bill co-sponsored by Republican Scott would allow South Carolina to generate revenue from the leases, giving the state and local governments added resources to better protect the coastline.
