Renewed effort to make lynching a federal crime

Senator Tim Scott says there’s no undoing of the past, but the future can be better.  South Carolina Republican Scott has teamed with New Jersey Democrat Corey Booker to renew an effort to make lynching a federal crime in the United States.  Their bill is called the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act to amend the U-S Code to specify that lynching is a crime that warrants an enhanced sentence under existing federal hate crime statutes.  Till, at the age of 14, was brutally lynched in 1955 segregated Mississippi.
