Removing an exemption for commercial gun ranges

To the upset of homeowners in the vicinity, a commercial gun range operates in the vicinity of highway 130, but a move by Oconee County fathers could stop future ranges of the commercial type.  District One’s John Elliott last night introduced a measure to remove the exemption afforded commercially-operated gun ranges from the provisions of the county’s noise law.  What Elliott and his colleagues have in mind will grandfather existing lawful commercial gun ranges, but deny the exemption to future ranges.  Chairman Matthew Durham lent his support to Elliott’s idea with the understanding that nothing will interfere with a homeowner’s gun rights on his property.
