Released state inmate re-jailed

An Oconee man, released by state prison for community supervision, was taken back to jail Friday when the Oconee Sheriff’s Office arrested him in an investigation of what the sheriff’s office says were the solicitation of sexually explicit images from a teenager.  The sheriff’s office announced the charge of criminal solicitation of a minor against Shane Adam Burdette and confirmed that 43-year old Burdette is the same man who the state Department of Corrections released under community supervision effective January 1 from serving a prison term for voluntary manslaughter in the shotgun death in 2013 of James Evan Tyner.  A spokeswoman for the state DOC, Christy Shain, said by 2022, Burdette had already served several years in prison.  Two years ago, Burdette saw his sentence reduced from 15 to 10 years.
