Regardless of vetoes, lawmakers won’t be called back

In spite of how deep the governor may make cuts in the next state budget, the General Assembly has decided against returning to Columbia.  In a memorandum yesterday and released today, Senate President Thomas Alexander said, “Today, the leadership of the House of Representatives and the Senate agreed that it is not necessary to return to session this week and any vetoes that may be issued by the Governor may be considered when the General Assembly returns to regular session next January.
