Recreation amenities to be rebuilt

One-hundred-fifty thousand dollars ($150k) of federal funds allocated to Stephens County, Georgia is to be used on repairs to recreational amenities in the Tugaloo River, which separates Stephens County and Oconee County, South Carolina.  The Stephens County governing board last week presented the Tugaloo River Water Trail a check reflecting American Rescue Plan money.  Toccoa Radio WNEG quotes Angie Ramage of the Tugaloo River Water Trail as saying, “We’re going to rebuild Panther Creek launch so that people will have that fun ride down from that Yonah Dam area and pull out at Walker Creek.  We also hope, once that is rebuilt, we can do some work at Panther Bridge.  We want to try to work some of this money in to have an emergency pullout there or a put-in and a pull-out for handicapped vets or handicapped people where they can up and down the river.”
