Recognized professional standards is the goal

The police department at Clemson is under review this week to gauge how well it reaches professional standards, and there’s a chance for the public to take part.  The Clemson police are scheduled tomorrow and Wednesday for an on-site assessment in a program to achieve state accreditation by verifying that it meets professional standards.  Administered by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (SCLEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas:  policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.  Anyone who wishes to send written comments about the City of Clemson Police Department’s ability to comply with accreditation standards may do so before Friday, March 11 at the following address:  South Carolina Law Enforcement Association, Inc., PO Box 212266, Columbia, SC  29221-2266  ATTN:  SCLEA Program Administrator.  Should anyone wish to call the Clemson police and speak with an assessor, call the main line at 864/624-2000.  You may speak with an assessor tomorrow, Tuesday, March 1, between 1 and 4 pm.
