Reassessment won’t boost this year’s school spending

Chairman Elliott of Oconee County Council clarified for local school officials that the county’s next reassessment, set for 2023, can’t factor in for the new, 12-month school budget, to start July 1.  It leaves Dr. Thorsland, district superintdnent, and Gloria Moore, the budget writer, with the hope to realize additional revenues without a tax increase.  And that’s the growth that an individual tax mill generates from year to year, in a county where seemingly new building is non-stop.
