Public urged to be part of downtown workshop

Vacant Walhalla storefronts downtown are an opportunity for the city’s Main Street program.  Libby Imbody, the director, invites those interested to take part tomorrow in a walking visioning tour that will leave the Main Street office at 105 W. South Broad at 5:30 pm and proceed as a community engagement exercise for residents to brainstorm what they’d like to see in vacant spaces.  Imbody announces that Main Street Walhalla has retained Joe Borgstrom of Place + Main Advisors for a visit to evaluate Walhalla’s recruitment opportunities at six specific locations.  The goal:  to evaluate retail, office, and residential offerings by comparing public input with the realities of market data.  Borgstrom also will meet with property owners and city leaders and have a look at vacant or under-used locations.
