Proposed new use for old textile plant building

A state agency invites public comment about a proposed new use for the property that was a 100-year home for a textile plant operation just east of Seneca city limits.  The South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority holds a hearing 11:30 Friday morning, July 21 at the T-W “Shorty” Shaver Recreation Complex, WS 4th Street, Seneca to allow public comment on converting Utica’s former textile properties into a low income housing project.  Matt McColl, housing authority spokesman, says the proposed development is called “Seneca Mill Lofts” – proposed as a “120 unit family development” at 1300 ES 6th Street.  The July 21 hearing is scheduled to last one hour.
