Proposed law addresses election integrity and uniformity

Under debate at the South Carolina capital is a bill requiring counties to follow practices identical to the state election commission.  Seneca’s state representative, Bill Sandifer, said, “I am always glad to see legislation focused on safeguarding the democratic process.”  One component of the legislation would forbid any county election board from taking private money.  That hasn’t been the case in Oconee, says Republican Sandifer, but has been the case of some other counties.  Another bill for debate would set two weeks of early voting before an election and allow South Carolina voters to vote early without needing a reason.  Anyone, however, voting by mail would be required to include their ID.
