Problem-plagued piece of equipment to be addressed Tuesday

Baling recyclables at the Oconee County Materials Recovery Facility is big business for the county.  But the current baler, 25 years old, is experiencing problems, partly because of age.  Tuesday night the county fathers will be asked to spend in excess of $400 thousand a new, two-ram baler, sold by Crigler Enterprises of Mableton, Georgia.  Each year the MRF processes nearly 2000 tons of cardboard, mixed paper, plastics and aluminum cans creating revenues, according to the county, of more than $235 thousand.
