Prisma Health on the outs with insurance provider

Those insured by UnitedHealthCare are being warned by Prisma Health that unless the hospital corporation reaches a new deal with the insurance company, the provider will no longer include Prisma Health as an in-network provider beginning January 1.  Prisma’s chief clinical officer, Dr. Jonathan Gleason, in an email yesterday, said, “We continue to negotiate in the hopes that new agreements can be reached, but if no agreements are reached, your out-of-pocket costs could be affected.” Gleason further said, “Unfortunately, the costs of providing health care – like many other services – have been increasing rapidly due to unprecedented inflation, a shortage of essential health care workers that resulted in significant increase in labor costs this past year (which continue to climb this year), and supply chain disruptions that have significantly increased the costs of medical supplies and clinical technology, among other things.”
