Preserving history off s. highway 11

On 40 acres at Fair Play there’s evidence of Cherokee and American Revolutionary War history, so Oconee County will ask for state money to preserve the property as historic and significant.  Amanda Brock, county administrator, said it’ll be a $225 thousand project, of which $45 thousand of Oconee County money will be invested.  The purpose is to establish an historic site open to the public and a way to save significant and irreplaceable artifacts and petroglyphs.  Petroglyphs are considered the most ancient works of humankind that expose the past and aid in learning about prehistoric lives.
