Political promise made by Oakway man

An Oakway man announces he’ll try the write-in route to win a seat in the legislative chambers in Columbia.  Perry Smith describes himself as a blue collar Republican, having worked as a manufacturing engineer more than 28 years.  Rep. Bill Sandier of Seneca, the incumbent, is the only ballot candidate for the District Two House seat in November.  As to why Smith, at this date, is pursuing write-in votes, he said, “Well, it is because no one decided to step up and challenge the incumbent.  So the worst that can happen is if you don’t vote for me, then you get the same old same old!”
