Playoff berth is fervent hope of a local New York Jets’ fan

Jerry David Dyar may not be the only New York Jets fan within WGOG’s listening area, but you can argue that he’s the longest-suffering local fan of a pro football franchise that scored a major Super Bowl upset when the Jets beat the Baltimore Colts in 1969.  Since then, it has been one disappointment after another for the original AFL franchise.  Many of the Jets problems have been at quarterback, but signal calling likely won’t be a problem this year as the Jets now have former Green Bay great Aaron Rodgers.  And the Jets have amassed skilled players to support him; so, it is with guarded optimism that Dyar, director of Oconee’s office of veterans affairs and former WGOG announcer, sees the 2023 season.  At least for this year, Dyar sees the playoffs as a goal for his team.
