Pivotal vote Monday at the Clemson City Hall

Scheduled Monday evening at the Clemson City Hall is a vote liable to have major ramifications for properties between Abernathy Park and College Avenue. The council is to consider first reading of an ordinance to approve a planned development project on parcels near Wall Street and Keowee Trail, an approximate five-and-one-half-acre mixed use project of 450 residential units and 10 thousand square feet of commercial space.  According to documents made public last week, the developer is to contribute $1 million for the design and construction improvements of Abernathy Park.  Yet the impact of hundreds of residential units and additional stores on the landscape is, to a number of Clemson residents, concerning because of the potential for the university city to become more crowded.
