Pilot’s body remains in wreckage

Federal investigators at Lake Hartwell are in need of the type of equipment that can pull airplane wreckage high enough out of the trees so divers can get to the doors to the plane and remove the body of the pilot.  Georgia-Carolina radio stations in Toccoa and Lavonia quote the Hart County sheriff as saying the family of the pilot has been notified.  He was flying from Punta Gorda, Florida to Anderson, South Carolina when the small plane went down around noon on Saturday.  Mike Cleveland, the Hart County sheriff, believes there isn’t any kind of equipment on either side of Lake Hartwell that can do the job.  Cleveland has seen a barge moving gravel on the lake that might be able to do the job, but he is unsure who owns the barge.
