Pickens County teacher nominated for state award

A social studies teacher at Liberty High School, Zachary Arms, was named yesterday one of five finalists for South Carolina Teacher of the Year.  Molly Spearman, state superintendent, surprised Arms with the news that, as a finalist, he’ll get $10 thousand and a berth in the next stage of competition.  Arms is known for his spirit and innovative teacher methods, as well as designing community events at all Liberty schools to teach personal finance.
