Out of consideration for the service they provide

During mayor comments, the Westminster mayor asked his council colleagues to evaluate whether the next set of elected leaders deserve higher pay for their par-time duties.  Mayor Ramey, at last night’s meeting, said it has been 20 years or longer since the council salaries have been increased.  Over that time, the mayor noted, the pay of regular city workers has been boosted, but not that of the council.  Should council boost the pay of the mayor and the council, the pay hike won’t apply until the next set of council members are elected.
