“Our COVID-19 numbers….are reduced”

Across the South Carolina Prisma Health system, COVID-19 numbers by Friday last week had fallen to 128 patients.  Tammie Epps, spoksewoman, said of those 128, positivities were 39 and non-infectious, 89.  101.7/WGOG NEWS last week requested Prisma to confirm–or deny–talk that Oconee Memorial’s numbers had dropped to COVID eight patients, none of whom were ICU patients.  Further that–if and when–Oconee’s numbers fall to zero, the facial covering requirement for staff would be lifted.  However, Friday said, “There is currently no change in the policy for masking.”  Laying in weight is the fear that the BA-2 sub-variant could increase cases in weeks ahead, just as overall sickness and hospitalizations have dropped to pre-pandemic levels.  “Which means”, says Dr. Fauci, “ultimately, overtime it might take over as the dominant variant.”
