Ordinance 2022-24 (amended) now the law

In their special meeting today, Oconee County Council gave final approval to Ordinance 2022-24, as amended, and it now establishes the requirement of a buildable lot on lakes Keowee and Jocassee to be no smaller than one-half acre. Lake overlay supporters see this as a requirement that prevents crowding of homes along the shorelines, as well as a way to tamp down the numbers of septic tanks and the potential for pollution.
