Opening day filers stake their claims

The opening hours of candidate qualifying saw a pair of races become official.  Beth Blundy of Oconee County and Micah Black of Anderson County qualified for the June primary as candidates for 10th Circuit Solicitor.  And Matthew Durham, the incumbent, and newcomer India Lancaster, are paired against each other as the result of their filings on Saturday afternoon for Seat Two, Oconee County Council.  Other filing salvos were incumbent Thomas Alexander, State Senate; incumbent Bill Whitmire, Seat One, State House of Representatives; incumbent Bill Sandifer, Seat Two, State House of Representatives; incumbent Mike Crenshaw, Oconee Sheriff; incumbent Karl Addis, Oconee Coroner; newcomer Tonya Keller, Oconee Treasurer; and incumbent Glenn Hart, Seat Five, Oconee County Council.  Stewart Jones, filed for U-S House of Representatives. All who filed Saturday entered the Republican primary June 11.  For all who wish the run in the primaries the qualifying period remains open until April 1.
