Open house denotes fire station

Men and women have been answering calls within the Corinth-Shiloh Fire District of Oconee County for 60 years.  Yesterday was a day to mark that with an open house that offered a bouncy house and other fun stuff directed at the youngest population within the fire service area, with the idea also to teach kids about fire safety.  The department’s fire trucks and other firefighting equipment were displayed.  The 60th anniversary comes at a time when Corinth-Shiloh hopes to establish a tax district.  Like the tax district created for the Keowee Fire Department, the mostly all-volunteer CSFD hopes to be able to hire full-time fire fighters to better protect its service area, according to Chief Kevin Christenbury.
