Office Arrests Salem Woman on Trafficking in Methamphetamine Charge

A Salem woman remains in jail today after her arrest yesterday morning, during a traffic stop, on a charge of Trafficking in Methamphetamine.

35 year old Ashley Claire Parmele, of Barker Court, was given a combined $52,715.00 surety bond after a bond hearing yesterday at the Oconee County Detention Center.  Parmele was also charged by the deputy with Driving under Suspension and Simple Possession of Marijuana.

A deputy on patrol conducted a traffic stop on a gray Nissan Murano yesterday morning, for a traffic violation, near Crystal Bay Court and Rochester Highway, which is near Newry.

A check with dispatch revealed that Parmele’s license was suspended and that Parmele had been charged previously with Driving under Suspension.

A female deputy arrived on the scene and searched Parmele’s person.  Upon further investigation, according to the sheriff’s office, a quantity of Methamphetamine was located on Parmele’s person.  Parmele was transported to the Oconee County Detention Center.  An inventory of Parmele’s vehicle, by the deputy, produced a quantity of Marijuana inside of the vehicle.

The arrest announcement reads:  “Approximately 94.61 grams of Methamphetamine was seized during the traffic stop, as well as approximately 7.56 grams of Marijuana.”
