Oconeeans to choose two school trustees

We’ve yet to wrap up business from this year’s political primary elections, but a reminder today that it’s not too early to think about who will be elected this year to the Oconee School Board of Trustees.  2022 is a political year in which county voters select District One and Three members to the county council.  Same applies to the District One and Three seats on the county school board.  The current seat holders, Dean Bare in District One and Sandra Sloan in District Three, are both eligible to seek re-election.  The non-partisan school board seat votes will be part of the November General Election and 60 days before November 8 the county election commission will advertise the availability of those seats.  Candidates may run from their respective districts and are voted on by residents in their district only.  Official filing for the seats begins at 8 am Monday, July 26 and ends at noon Thursday, August 4.  Those interested may obtain filing packets from the office of the Oconee Superintendent of Education in Walhalla.
