Oconee robbery suspect captured in Alabama

Here is an announcement this afternoon from Oconee Sheriff’s Office:

“An investigation into reports of an armed robbery
over the weekend has led to charges being filed, by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office, against
a Walhalla teenager.
18 year old Caedin Glenn Coker, of Adams Sullivan Road, has been charged with one count of
Armed Robbery. Coker was taken into custody by the Auburn, AL Police Department at a gas
station in their jurisdiction and was transported to a medical facility for evaluation.
Deputies responded to a convenience store on S. Highway 11 on Saturday evening in regards to
reports of an armed robbery. According to evidence that was obtained during the investigation,
Coker and a juvenile female got out of a Chevrolet Trailblazer after parking in the parking lot of
the store. Coker and the female then entered the store, where they both went to their respective
bathrooms.
After leaving the bathrooms, the female left the store. Coker, however, approached a clerk at the
cash registers and demanded money while patting his chest area, indicating by his words and
actions that he was in possession of a firearm. After taking an undisclosed amount of cash, a
pack of cigarettes and a lighter, Coker got back in the vehicle and drove away from the scene.
A tip, received as a result of a post on the Crimestoppers of Oconee County, Inc. Facebook page,
led to the identification of Coker as the suspect in the investigation, according to Helen
Westmoreland, the Coordinator of Crimestoppers of Oconee County, Inc.
The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation. The arrest warrant has been
entered into the National Crimes Information Center database and a hold request has been sent to
