Oconee Pride Rally

Hayden Laye is planning a rally this weekend in Seneca to demonstrate solidarity in the community for LGBTQ+ rights and equality.  The Oconee County Pride Rally is planned 4 o’clock Saturday afternoon outside Seneca City Hall.  Laye explains the reasons for the rally this way:  “On Tuesday, July 19, 2022 the United States House of Representatives voted on the Respect for Marriage Act (RFMA), a bill that would codify same-sex and interracial marriage into federal law.  The bill passed the House of Representatives 267-157 with 45 House Republicans joining all House Democrats in voting for the bill and we are deeply saddened and disappointed that Rep. Jeff Duncan was not one of those who voted in favor of the RFMA.  We call on Senator Scott and Senator Graham listen to the plurality of South Carolinians who support same-sex marriage and vote to pass the RFMA.”
